This compound has been shown to be effective in vitro against Staphylococcus intermedius and sensitive mycoplasma organisms. Although a lot of antibiotics tend to suppress the immune system, macrolide antibiotics have been reported to enhance the immune system when used in chicken models. Studies suggest that chronic exposure to this compound may have a negative effect on the respiratory system.
